About Us
Sharif Trust was founded by late Mian Mohammad Sharif, a philanthropist and industrialist known for his exceptional leadership in business. His entrepreneurial journey began in 1937 with the launch of the Sharif Group in the steel industry. After migrating to Lahore, Pakistan during the partition of the Indian Subcontinent in 1947, he restarted his business from scratch. Through resilience and determination, the Sharif Group grew into a leading conglomerate in the steel, textile, and sugar industries of Pakistan.
Motivated by his personal experience with a heart ailment and the limited medical facilities in Pakistan at the time, Mian Mohammad Sharif was inspired to initiate welfare projects for the underprivileged. This commitment led to the establishment of Ittefaq Hospital in 1986, which today offers numerous charity beds and a significant benevolent fund.
His broader vision was to develop a network of hospitals especially in underserved rural areas. This vision culminated in the founding of Sharif Trust in 1995, supported by contributions from his family. The Trust is dedicated to developing and operating healthcare and educational institutions, including the Sharif Medical City Hospital—a 503-bed, crescent-and-star-shaped tertiary care facility offering comprehensive healthcare services.
Sharif Medical City Hospital (SMCH)
Sharif Medical City Hospital is a 503-bed tertiary care teaching hospital affiliated with Sharif Medical & Dental College (SMDC). The hospital features separate sections for emergency care, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, operating theatres, diagnostic services, and private patient rooms.

Sharif Medical City Hospital is a 500-bed hospital with a covered area of 18,730 sq. ft. It has separate sections for emergency, outpatients, inpatients, operation theatres, investigative services, and private rooms. The 13 well-designed and fully equipped operation theatres have their own pre- and post-operative sections. The intensive care facilities range from intensive monitoring to continuous ventilation.
It has a magnificent building, architecturally designed in the shape of a crescent and star, built with rich specifications and extensively equipped with state-of-the-art technology to serve as a teaching hospital. The hospital is surrounded by vast, lush-green lawns and is connected to other facilities via a network of wide, carpeted roads lined with ornamental trees. The hospital’s architecture and landscaping match the standards of any similar facility in the Western world.
As a tertiary care hospital this hospital is designed to provide health care of international standards to all patients of the area and others coming from surrounding districts.
The Emergency and Trauma Center of the hospital is dedicated to providing the community with first-class emergency care. The department offers high-quality, 24/7 emergency services and caters to all acute illnesses as well as life-threatening conditions. It has separate emergency management units for medicine and allied specialties, surgery and allied specialties, pediatrics, and gynecology & obstetrics. There is a minor operation theatre and procedure room where emergency surgical procedures are performed. The center also includes a large waiting area and a pharmacy stocked with all essential emergency medicines. The emergency department features a critical care transport service, with a fleet of six ambulances staffed by critical care-trained personnel.
