Sharif Medical City Hospital Performs First Robotic Hip Replacement Surgery

Sharif Medical City Hospital, Lahore has successfully performed its first robotic hip replacement surgery, marking an important milestone in the hospital’s orthopaedic surgical services. The procedure was performed by Prof. Farooq Azam Khan and his surgical team using the Vulcan Tactile System (VTS) robotic system. Technical support for the robotic system was provided by Rech International. The surgery was carried out in the hospital’s state-of-the-art modular operation theatre, with the robotic system used to support the surgical team during the hip replacement procedure. The successful completion of the procedure marks the first robotic hip replacement surgery performed at Sharif Medical City Hospital and represents the introduction of robotic technology into the hospital’s hip replacement programme.

Prof. Farooq Azam Khan and his team successfully completed the procedure with technical support from Rech International, bringing together orthopaedic surgical expertise, robotic technology and the hospital’s modern operating theatre facilities. This milestone provides a foundation for the further use of robotic surgery at Sharif Medical City Hospital.
